Omaxe Mall: New ‘Chandni’ In The Town

“Excellent ambience, very spacious, it's awesome!”. Shalu Bansal uttered these words with a broad smile when she was asked to describe her experience at the Omaxe Mall. Combining a Mughlai look with a Connaught Place vibe, the recently inaugurated Omaxe Mall has become a new center of attraction for Delhiites. Located between the narrow streets of Chandni Chowk, Omaxe Mall is within walking distance from gate one of the Chandni Chowk metro station. From lift to fall ceiling, from dining tables to walls, every infrastructure has been given a mix of modern as well as ethnic touch.

“Here, everything is available under one roof so you don't have to go far away,” said Mohd. Tanveer, a visitor from Bajrang Pura. He further said that he will bring his family too once all the shops are opened at Omaxe.

At present, the food court and a few jewelry shops are only functional in the mall. However, visitors seem to be already in love with the taste of its food court. “I have bought a burger and it tasted good. The cost is also less”, said Mohd. Tanveer. A lady sitting inside the food court of the mall enjoying her tea said that it tasted really good and she loved it.

Though Omaxe has a great infrastructure, old Chandni streets still hold a different place in people's hearts. However, Gaya Sudhir Malik, who works in the marketing department of Omaxe, feels that the mall has an edge over the Chandni Chowk Street market. 

“People in Chandni Chowk have problems with car parking, sitting areas, people standing and eating. People don't have time to purchase. Here everything is available. Here they have food, bridal lehengas, and jewelry,”, he said Gaya Sudhir Malik mentioned that this mall comes under a public-private partnership. He also revealed that it will take almost 6 months for all the shops to be opened at Omaxe.

Now, the question arises if the newly built Omaxe will pull all the crowds off the Chandni Chowk streets or if will people still prefer shopping in the narrow streets while enjoying street foods. The visitors though didn't seem to leave their loyalty towards Chandni streets for Omaxe. That's why when Shalu Bansal, who initially praised Omaxe for putting all her heart out, was asked to choose between the mall and the street, she said, ”Humein toh wo bhi pasand hai yeh bhi pasand hai”.

Bandana Kanak revealed the various features of the Omaxe, and its future implications.

1. Sir, where are you from? What job do you do in Omaxe? 
Ans: I am from Delhi and I’m in the marketing department of Omax. We invest in all the shops in Omaxe.
Investors get a good return of 12% and they have a good investment.

    2. Old Chandni Chowk is well-settled here. Do you think people will come to the mall? 
Ans: Of Course, this building has never been built before. It is on 4.5 acres of land. There are about 2200 car
parking spaces. So this is something different.

     3. What's so special about Omaxe?
Ans: The most special thing is that the type of parking system Omaxe has is not available anywhere.  

     4. Hasn't the mall been built in a traditional design? 

 Ans: It has been given a Mughlai look. British and Indian touch has also been incorporated so that people can
come here and see the culture.  

 
     5. Will the rate of products at Omaxe Mall be higher than that of Chandni Chowk street market?
Ans: The rate will be the same, not high, but the facilities will be more. 

 6. Will the shopkeepers come from Chandni Chowk only or from somewhere else?
Ans: Yes, they are coming from far away. Many people have invested from Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and all over

India. Even people from Dubai have invested their money.

    7. Do you have a message for potential investors?
Ans: Yes, if people invest here, they will get a good growth of money. It is a surety of money. They are investing

in Omaxe and Omaxe is a name in itself. 

    8. To make people aware that Ormax is open here, what are you doing?
Ans: Not only Delhi, but people from all over India are getting awareness about Omaxe. People are seeing that if
they come here, they will not have any problem, there will be no loot market. And everyone knows about Omaxe,
so no need to promote anything.
